The Clifton Singers, December 2023

Choir Membership

The Singers meet on Sunday evenings in St Paul's Church, St Paul's Road, Clifton, from 7.30 p.m. until about 9.15 p.m., sometimes ending a little later. We don't normally practise during school holidays.

We sing in English and Latin, sometimes in French, German, and Italian, and occasionally in other languages. Some recent repertoire is listed here. Good sight-reading is desirable — we prefer not to spend a lot of time learning notes. For prospective new members, after a few rehearsals there will be a short audition which includes sight-reading, scales, and a short prepared piece.

There is a subscription of c.£170 per annum, which goes towards paying our conductor, purchase of music, occasional payments to instrumentalists, and use of the rehearsal venue.

Concert dress for women is: black top, black skirt, trousers or dress; and for men: no tie or jacket, black shirt, black trousers.
